This map is obviously grossly inaccurate, as it ignores bilingual regions and inflates the pervasiveness of certain regional dialects. For instance, although some people in Brittany speak Breton, French is the dominant language. But as a quick illustration of how languages in Europe rarely correspond with national borders, this map is still quite useful.
